About

Seven days in Icelandic nature, sleeping in the open air, enjoying some of the most popular places this wonderful country has to offer.

On the first day, we will meet in Reykjavik for a short briefing. We will go over some insurance-related matters and the guide will explain what to expect in the coming days. We will finish the evening with a lovely beer tour.

It is time to hit the road. Our first destination is the beloved Golden Circle. At the Þingvellir National Park, we will learn about the local history and walk from the European to the North-American tectonic plate. The world's ultimate geyser, Geysir will also be visited. Even though it is rarely active these days, the little brother, Strokkur still erupts every 5-8 minutes. The last stop is Gullfoss, the "golden waterfall", one of the most popular on the continent.

On the 3rd day, it is time for some excitement. As we are heading into Þórsmörk, the "Valley of Thor" we will be crossing rivers and enjoying some truly exceptional scenery. There will be enough time to explore the area and in the evening we will arrange a typical Icelandic barbecue for you. A perfect time for trying the local fermented shark with a shot of Brennivín for the brave ones.

We continue the tour with some of the most picturesque locations in the region. At Seljalandsfoss, we will be able to walk behind the waterfall's curtain and when visiting a local celebrity, Skogafoss (as seen on "Game of Thrones") we will look for the buried treasure. One of the most beautiful beaches in the whole world follows the Reynisfjara beach with its completely black sand coastline. In the summer thousands of puffin families live here, on the nearby Reynisdrangar basalt columns. We will also explore the Mýrdalsjökull glacier before heading to our camp in the beautiful fishing village of Vik, which also serves as the center of the region.

We hope that you had enough rest during the night because this will be an action-packed day. First, we will head to the Glacier Lagoon and the neighboring Diamond Beach, leaving you enough time to explore the area. If you wish, you can add a boat or kayak tour to this day. After lunch, we will start the real adventure in the form of a glacier hike on Falljökull. First, everything will be explained in detail and your gear will be carefully inspected. Even though the hike is relatively easy, it still requires a moderate level of fitness.

We will slowly start our return to Reykjavik the following day. At Hveragerdi, the town of hundreds of natural hot springs, you will have the chance to relax in the hot water after a short hike through the Reykjadalur area. Afterward, we head back to the capital.

The last day is a free activity day, you will enough time to visit a museum or head to the popular Blue Lagoon spa.

Itinerary

Day 1: Start your trip in Reykjavik

After arriving in Iceland you got time to check in to your hotel room. The whole group will meet each other in the evening for a short briefing. We will go over some insurance matters and your guide will explain what you can expect during the next few days. After that, it is time to explore the city and there is absolutely no better way to do that than with a nice beer tour.

Day 2: The Golden Circle awaits you!

It's time to head on the road. Today we explore the Golden Circle. Our first stop is at Þingvellir, the place of the first Icelandic parliament. The first parliament was established there in 930 AD and it is, therefore, the oldest one in Europe. Besides all the history you can also see the Mid-Atlantic ridge. This is the split of the tectonic plates that divides Europe from North America. After that, we stop at Geysir. This "water puddle" gives its name to all the other Geysers in the world. It erupts every 5-8 minutes and it is truly a big spectacle. Last but not least is Gulfoss, the golden waterfall. In the summertime, up to 130 000 liters per second are running down this powerful waterfall. In good weather conditions, we are also able to see the Langjökull glacier.

Day 3: The Valley of Thor

Now it's time for the Icelandic highlands. We head to Þórsmörk, a valley named after the Nordic God Thor. On our way, we have to cross rivers and one can enjoy the breathtaking scenery. We will give you enough time to explore the area and in the evening we have something special planned for you. Your guide will arrange a typical Icelandic BBQ for you. If you are brave enough, you can try the fermented shark together with a shot of Brennivín.

Day 4: Fire and Ice

This day is all about Volcanoes, Glaciers, and waterfalls. Two of the most popular waterfalls, Seljalandsfoss and Skogafoss, are waiting for you. While we are driving along the South Coast, your guide will tell you all about the volcanic activity in this region. This activity can also be seen at Reynisfjara beach. The sand is completely black, because of all the eruptions that happened during the years. One of the volcanoes is covered by a glacier called Mýrdalsjökull, and we will explore one of the outlet glaciers coming down from the mountain. After a short visit to a beautiful fishing village called Vik, we will head to our camp for the night.

Day 5: Day 5: A day full of Action

Make sure you get enough rest during the night because this day is fully packed. In the morning your guide will drive you to the Glacier Lagoon. You got plenty of time to explore the area and it is just a short walk to Diamond Beach. If you like, you can add a boat or kayak tour to your day. After lunch, it is time to head to the glacier. We put on all the safety gear and off we go. Falljökull is an outlet glacier coming down from Iceland's biggest glacier called Vatnajökull. Even though the hike is relatively easy, a moderate level of fitness is required.

Day 6: Day 6: Time to relax

We are heading back in the direction of Reykjavik. On our way, we will stop in a town called Hveragerði. This town is well known in Iceland because you can find hundreds of natural hot springs around it. We have to take a moderate hike (3km/2miles) to a valley called Reykjadalur. There we can find a hot spring that heats up a river. Depending on where you jump into the water, the temperature can reach more than 40°C/104°F. After we are fully relaxed we drive back to the capital area.

Day 7: Day 7: City Day

As we have nothing special planned for this day, you can use your time to visit one of the museums in the city or head to the Blue Lagoon.
