- What is snorkeling? Participants swim in specially made dry suits through the crystal clear water. We breath through snorkels to have an unobstructed view of the landscape beneath the water level.

On this tour you will be snorkeling between the tectonic plates of Europe and America in the clearest water in the world.

Silfra is located in Thingvellir National Park, and its water runs from the Langjökull glacier located 50 kilometers away, being filtered through lava for 100-200 years!

The visibility at Silfra is astounding, reaching up to 150 meters.

You will get the chance to relax as you comfortably drift through the fissure. You will be wearing a dry suit that will keep you warm and will allow you to take your Icelandic geology exploration to the next level.

Itinerary

Day 1: Þingvellir National Park
Þingvellir National park is one of Icelands most important historical and geographical sites, and thus it has been protected by law since 1928. Since 2004 Þingvellir has become part of the UNESCO world heritage list. The park is located approximately 40 km north east of Reykjavik and is home to the lake Þingvallavatn.
Day 1: Silfra Fissure
Silfra is a narrow canyon in the lava field located between the continents of America and Europe. The water in Silfra is a mixture of ground water from the surrounding area and melt water fromLangjökull glacier in the highlands. It takes the glacial water decades to filter through the massive lava field before it enters the fissure. This makes the water in Silfra one of the purest and clearest in the world, the underwater visibility, in the heavenly blue water, is normally 70-80 meters, better than anywhere else in the world.
