About

Private Northern Lights & Stargazing Tour

Experience the magic of the Arctic night on your own private Northern Lights adventure!
We’ll pick you up directly from your accommodation and take you away from the city glow to remote locations chosen through expert analysis of meteorology and space weather data, giving you the very best chance to witness the Aurora Borealis in total comfort and privacy.

Your Chances of Seeing the Northern Lights

The Northern Lights are a natural phenomenon and can never be guaranteed. For a successful sighting, three key elements must align:
Solar wind
Darkness
A clear or partly clear sky

We maximize your chances with exceptional weather expertise, the most important part of Northern Lights hunting. With over a decade of experience and our deep understanding of Icelandic weather, we maintain a success rate of around 90%.

When conditions are poor, we cancel the tour and offer a free re-schedule or full refund.
If you join a tour and don’t see the lights, you’re welcome to join again for free on our Northern Lights & Stargazing tour as often as needed within 2 years.

Know before you go

Please make sure you dress warmly. It will be cold standing outside under the Icelandic midnight sky. We recommend layers of thick and windproof clothing, woollen socks and warm shoes, gloves and headwear. See our full clothing guide here: https://happyworld.is/how-to-layer-like-a-viking/

The Northern Lights are a natural phenomenon and displays, or their magnitude, can never be guaranteed. We base our Go/No Go decision on cloud cover and geomagnetic forecasts and only go out when forecasts indicate a high chance of visible Northern Lights. Low level lights count as sightings. Under no circumstances will there be a refund, in full or partial, for a Non-sightings tour.
