  • Fully Equipped 4x4 Campervan. Hit the road with our signature 4X4 campervans.
  • Zero-Risk Insurance.  Zero-Risk Insurance, you will be covered in the case of theft, gravel damage, CDW (Collision Damage Waiver), wheel/tire damage, burn-out engine, etc. This inclusion is a lifesaver and a recipe for a worry-free road trip.
  • Optional Activities - Our experts carefully planned your itinerary so that you could get the most out of your road trip. To make your tour even more adventurous and worry-free of planning, we included a list of activities that you can take part in, during your trip. The selection is yours; all you need to do is select the ones you desire in your booking, and we will include the payment for them in the total price of the Self-Drive Tour.
  • Camping sites. Spend every night in a different location!
  • The Easy Guide. This trip includes our signature and best assistant for the journey in Iceland - the Easy Guide.
  • Cancelation Protection. There is no charge if you cancel your reservation within 24 hours before pick up. If you do not cancel within 24 hours before pick up and do not show up, we will charge 30% of the total amount from your credit card.
  • Free Shuttle. We offer our customers arriving at the International Airport Keflavik (KEF) a free shuttle to our office at Selvík 5 during opening hours

What do I need to bring?

  1. Pack sensibly. There is not a lot of space for luggage in the camper.
  2. It’s better to have soft bags rather than hard case bags.
  3. Bring warm clothes with you. We never know what the weather is going to be like.
  4. Thick socks and boots. Good boots.

  6. Bring a valid credit card and driver’s license.
  7. Remember to bring a good mood and a happy smile!

Itinerary

Day 1: Visit Reykjavik

CampEasy - Reykjavik - Akranes 

Distance: 109 km, 7 stops

Our included shuttle service will pick you up from the airport or your stay in Keflavik and bring you to our CampEasy office, located in Selvík 5 Reykjanesbær. Here, we will set up your journey itinerary, introduce you to the camper and its facilities and personalize the Easy Guide tablet. While waiting for all of that or in case of the early morning – we have hot coffee drinks to cheer you up!

On your first day, you visit the capital of Iceland – Reykjavik, where you see Harpa the Music & Conference Hall, Hallgrímskirkja Church, Sun Voyager, and should you have the time, visit FlyOver Iceland. We truly recommend it! 

(Admission fees to FlyOver Iceland are not included in the general price)

Night in Akranes Campsite.

Day 2: Snæfellsnes Peninsula and Kirkjufell

Akranes - South Snæfellsnes - Stykkishólmur 

Distance: 297 km, 14 stops

Your itinerary takes you to the Snæfellsnes peninsula, where your first stop is at the Gerðuberg cliff, partially composed of 14 meters high geometrically symmetric basalt columns. You see many famous iconic places such as the Snæfellsnesjökull glacier, which inspired the French novelist Jules Verne, Kirkjufell mountain, which you may remember from Game of Thrones, and its beautiful waterfall, which is the most photographed in Iceland! You will see the Búðir church (1 out of 3 black churches in Iceland) and then stop at Arnarstapi, an area renowned for its beauty, with a fascinating beach where erosion carved an arch right in the stone. Follow this adventure by joining a tour at Vatnshellir Cave with admission at 2 pm that we can include in your tour if you choose so in your booking. Then you explore Djúpalónssandur, a black pebble beach selected on the spot long ago. Men's strength was tested by lifting big rocks (23 to 155 kg) and heavy drifted wood logs and carrying or throwing them as far as possible. Continue your trip by visiting Saxhóll Crater, a volcanic crater led by wooden steps along the way; you reach the 100 meters (about 328.08 ft) deep hole after a nice and leisurely walk. You have a fantastic view of the sea and the lava fields, and Reykjavík is on the horizon on a bright day! Before finishing the day, you will visit three spectacular waterfalls: Kirkjufellsfoss, Grundarforss, and Kvernafoss. In the evening, you can chasse the northern lights from Stykkishólmur.

Day 3: Hraunfossar and Barnafoss Waterfalls

Stykkishólmur - Borgarfjordur -  Þingvellir Campsite/Nyrdri Leirar

Distance: 302 km, 8 stops

Borgarfjordur is home to many Icelandic Sagas and one of the most historical places in Iceland, Reykhólt. Today, you drive today farm fields, visit the beautiful Hraunfoss and Barnafoss waterfalls, stop at Europe´s highest hot spring flow rate, Deildartunguhvern, and of course, experience the natural geothermal bath and spa Krauma before setting off for the night (optional activity, please select in your booking if you want to include this in your tour). The Golden Circle area is a good spot for sky gazing in search of the aurora borealis, don´t miss out!

Night in Þingvellir Campsite.

Day 4: Golden Circle

Þingvellir/Nyrdri Leirar Campsite - Golden Circle - Skógar campsite

Distance: 253 km, 10stops

Start the day by visiting the famous Golden Circle attractions: the National Park Thingvellir, Oxará waterfall, the hot spring Geysir and the mighty Gullfoss waterfall. On the way, you can stop at the natural hot baths of Laugarvatn Fontana for a relaxing moment with an open view of the lake (this is an optional activity, we can include the admission in your tour if you choose so in the booking). We recommend a detour at Fridheimar restaurant & farm, where you can taste delicious tomato soup made from fresh Icelandic tomatoes.

Day 5: Ice Cave Tour and Diamond Beach

Skógar - Vik - Kirkjubæjarklaustur

Distance: 362 km, 7 stops

Today, you experience the wonders of the South Coast! The variety of landscapes is breathtaking: basalt formations right on a cliff at Reynisfjara, but also around Svartifoss waterfall in the Skaftafell National Park, to the fascinating Fjadrárgljúfur Canyon, and the iconic Diamond Beach; you have plenty to visit! The day's main activity (optional, you need to select it in your booking if you want to join) is the Ice Cave Tour in Vatnajökull.

Night in Kirkjubæjarklaustur (call before you arrive at the campsite).

Day 6: Reynisfjara - Black Sand Beach

Kirkjubæjarklaustur - Vik - Selfoss 

Distance: 258 km, 6 stops

Dyrhólaey and Reynisfjara black sand beaches are among your must-see places in Iceland, so don´t miss them on the way back!  Your next visit can be to the Icelandic Lava center, where you can experience the Icelandic Lava Show (optional activity), where you have a chance to see molten lava. Then you might want to visit the Skógar Museum, which is our suggestion only, we will not include admission in the tour. Finish the day with a dip in the warm waters of Seljavallalaug, a one-of-the-kind open-air hot spring swimming pool built in the mountains, and admire nature in its simplest form.

Night in Selfoss Campsite.

Day 7: Departure

Selfoss -  Reykjanes Peninsula - CampEasy 

Distance: 171 km, 12 stops

Depending on your departure flight time, you might like to visit Reykjanes Peninsula and see landmarks like Gigvatnsvatn, Gunnuhver Hot Spring, or the Bridge Between Continents.

If you still have some time before your departure flight, we recommend you take a relaxing bath at the famous Blue Lagoon, one of the 25 world wonders. This is however, only a suggestion of ours, we will not include admission in the tour.
