What do I need to bring?

  1. Pack sensibly. There is not a lot of space for luggage in the camper.
  2. It’s better to have soft bags rather than hard case bags.
  3. Bring warm clothes with you. We never know what the weather is going to be like.
  4. Thick socks and boots. Good boots.

Itinerary

Day 1: Reykjanesbær and Geldingardalur Volcano

Distance: 316 km 14 stops

Welcome to Iceland! Our included shuttle service picks you up from the airport or your hotel accommodation in Keflavik and brings you to our CampEasy office, located in Selvík 5 Reykjanesbær.

Start your first day in Iceland by exploring the Reykjanes Peninsula. Our Easy Guide navigational tablet shows you the way to the best locations! Depending on your arrival´s flight time, you might be able to visit Blue Lagoon (admission fee not included in the general price), Gunnuhver Hot Spring and Bridge Between Continents. You might also like to hike to the Glymur waterfall in Hvalfjordur (2-3 hours).

Night in Borgarnes.

Day 2: Borgarfjordur fjord and its waterfalls

Borgarnes - Hraunfossar - Stykkishólmur

Distance: 447 km 17 stops

You visit Borgarfjordur and start with Reykhólt, one of many historical places in Iceland and home to Icelandic Sagas. The next stops are two picturesque waterfalls - Barnafoss and Hraunfossar. Before driving to Snæfellsnes Peninsula where you visit places such as Búdir church, Vatnshellir Cave where you can join the optional activity: Vatnshellir Cave Tour (select it in your booking), the famous Kirkjufell mountain and Sugandisey Cliff.

Day 3: The Battle of Iceland

Stykkishómur – Hvammstangi - Hófsos

Distance: 385 km 8 stops

You start your day by visiting Sugandisey Lighthouse. We suggest you go to the Selasetur Íslands / Icelandic Seal Center, where you can see exhibitions, learn about seal biology, and track seals live by GPS. It is a great quick stop for the whole family. We recommend you continue your journey with Glaumbær Farm & Museum, where you learn about how Icelanders lived in the 18th- & 19th centuries and see real-sized turf houses. These are both only our recommendations, we will not include them in the tour price, if you choose to go there, you need to arrange the admissions for both activities. The attraction of the day (an optional activity that can be included in your booking for the tour) is 1238 The Battle of Iceland, a museum where you experience exhibitions through augmented reality! You then visit the Grafarkirkja Turf Church which is the oldest turf church in Iceland. This tiny church is very photogenic. The church surrounds a magical atmosphere that is worthy of spending time in and feeling the spirituality of this area. Then we have another recommendation for you, is the Hofsós swimming pool, for which you need to arrange the admission yourself, we do not include this in the tour price.

Day 4: Akureyri and The Beer Spa

Hófsos - Siglufjordur – Dalvík - Akureyri

Distance: 175 km 9 stops

You might like to take a short ferry trip to Hrísey Island (only our recommendation, the admission fee will not be included in the tour price). The island is one of the best bird-watching spots in the country and is home to forty bird species. You then can visit Bjórbödin - SPA & Restaurant (an optional activity which we can include in the tour if you select it in the booking), where you immerse yourself in a beer bath which has the properties to make the skin tighten and soften. The last stop of the day is Akureyri, the second largest town in Iceland.

Day 5: Lake Mývatn

Akureyri - Mývatn - Húsavík

Distance: 180 km 8 stops

Today, you continue exploring Akureyri before driving to Lake Mývatn. On the way, you visit Godafoss waterfall ,“Waterfall of the Gods”, one of the most spectacular waterfalls in Iceland. The next stops are Skútustaðagígar pseudo craters and Dimmuborgir, lava fields created by an eruption around 2,300 years ago. Finally, you can end your day with a long and relaxing bath at Mývatn Nature Baths (optional activity that can be included in the tour price if you select it in your booking).

Day 6: Húsavik & Diamond Circle

Húsavík - Ásbýrgir - Dettifoss - Mývatn

Distance: 212 km 6 stops

Get ready for a unique adventure! Go for a Whale Watching tour from Húsavík during which you have the opportunity to see whales and dolphins in their natural habitat (optional activity which we can include in the tour if you select it in your booking). Next, you visit Ásbýrgir, a horseshoe-shaped canyon formed 8 to 10,000 years ago. Another stop in the Diamond Circle is the impressive Dettifoss waterfall which is the biggest waterfall in Iceland and the second most powerful in Europe. The waterfall is 100 meters wide and 44 meters high.

Day 7: Vök Baths and Egilsstadir

Mývatn - Egilsstadir

Distance: 194 km 8 stops

Today´s itinerary takes to you Egilsstadir. You might like to visit many sites on the way like Krafla Viti, a crater filled with blue-colored water. Then you can taste one of the traditional Icelandic dishes, "kjötsúpa" - meat soup, and have a nice coffee at Fjallakaffi (our recommendation, not included in the tour price). On your way to the final stop of the day Egilsstadir, you will be able to see the Rjúkandi waterfall. The day can end at Vök Baths where you enjoy its warm geothermal waters and open view of the lake. We will include the admission to this optional activity if you choose it in your booking.

Day 8: East Coast and Seydisfjordur Fjord

Borgarfjordur Eystri - Seydisfjordur- Night Egilsstadir

Distance: 319 km, 8 stops

We recommend starting with a visit Borgarfjardarhofn, an excellent place for photography and bird watching. The next stop is Studlagil Canyon with stunning basalt rock columns and turquoise-colored water in its river. On the way to Seydisfjordur, you might like to hike to Fardagafoss or Gufufoss waterfall, which are located 5 minutes from the car park.

Day 9: East Coast

Hallormsstadur - Historical museum - Hengifoss - Hofn

Distance: 399 km 10 stops

In the morning you might like to go for a walk in Iceland's most significant forest, Hallormsstadur.  While following one of its many paths, you may encounter wild reindeers roaming around freely. You next visit Hengifoss, a waterfall against a basalt wall background which is among the must-see in Iceland! Before leaving the area, we recommend visiting the swimming pool in Eskifjordur ("Sundlaug Eskifjardar"; this is not an optional activity, you need to arrange the admission yourself) which offers picturesque views of the mountains. On the way to the campsite, you make a stop in Djúpavogur to admire the Sigurdur Gudmundsson´s artwork: 34 granite Eggs sculptures that outline the harbor for over a 200 meters distance.

Day 10: Diamond Beach and Vatnajokull Glacier Hike

Hofn- Skaftafell

Distance: 139 km, 6 stops

Get ready for an adventurous day! Start your day by visiting the stunning Diamond Beach! A black beach that lies around thousands of blocks of ice that glitter in the sunlight. Experience an Amphibian Boat Tour sailing between spectacular huge icebergs of Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon (optional activity that we can include in your tour if you select it in your booking). Next, you can choose to go for a memorable glacier hike on the Vatnajokull glacier - Skaftefell 3-Hours Glacier Hike - optional activity (we will include it in your tour if you select it when making the booking), and finish the day with a visit to Skaftafell National Park. You might like to follow one of its many paths, which leads to Svartifoss waterfall, a well-known chute framed by dark-colored basalt column formation.

Day 11: South Coast and Black Beach

Skaftafell - Skógar Campsite

Distance: 239 km 11 stops

Your itinerary takes you to Reynisfjara's famous black sand beach, stunning Dyrhólaey Cliffs, and rock formations. The following experience can be the Icelandic Lava Show, where you can see with your own eyes real running hot lava from a safe and controlled environment (optional activity, you can select it in your booking to be included in the tour). You might also like to see the wrecked DC-3 Plane (40 minutes to 1-hour walk one way) and learn more about Iceland by visiting Skógar Museum (the museum is only our suggestion, will not be included in the tour price). The latter has an impressive collection of 15.000 artifacts exhibited in 3 museums and six buildings.

Day 12: Horse riding and Reykjadalur Hot River

Skógar - Hveragerdi Campsite

Distance: 122 km 6 stops

Start the day by visiting three amazing waterfalls: Skógafoss, Seljalandsfoss, and Gljúfrabúi. At 2 PM meet Icelandic horses and go for an amazing horse-riding tour, The Heritage Tour which is of course, an optional activity and we will include it in your tour if you select it in the booking. End the day at Reykjadalur geothermal river flowing through the back valleys of Hveragerdi. Take your swimming wear with you!

Day 13: Golden Circle and Secret Lagoon

Hveragerdi – Golden Circle – Reykjavik

Distance: 281 km 8 stops

Now comes the time one of Iceland most popular site, the Golden Circle. The latter one is a tourist route with a few must-see stops such as Thingvellir National Park, Oxará and the Gullfoss waterfalls, and Geysir. We also recommend you go to Fridheimar Restaurant and Farm which is famous for horse breeding, horse show activities, and tomato farm. The latter entirely run with geothermal energy and uses biological pest control products. Fridheimar is open for visits and has a restaurant where you can taste their tomatoes' specialties. The meals and beverages are at your expense. Next, you can take a long and relaxing soak in the geothermal waters of the Secret Lagoon (optional activity that we can include in your tour if you select it in your booking) which was built in 1891. After the nice bath-relaxing time, go and visit Kerið, the famous Icelandic volcanic crater lake.

Day 14: Departure

Reykjavik campsite - Reykjavik Downtown - CampEasy

Distance: 63 km 6 stops

Discover Reykjavik and its landmarks such as the famous rainbow street in town and Hallgrímskirkja Church, from which you have a 360° panoramic view of the whole city. Should you have time on your departure day, we recommend visiting the Perlan Museum, where you learn interesting facts about Icelandic glaciers, birds, and nature. Perlan features a Northern Lights Planetarium show and a 100 meters Ice Cave. The Perlan-activities are not optional activities only our recommendation, you need to arrange the admission if you fancy join them.
